Pomona is ideally suited for walkers and bikers as it is situated approximately 4 miles from the southern shores of Coniston Water, 6 miles from Lakeside and the Windermere ferry and only 6 miles from the picturesque market town of Ulverston.
If you do not want to venture too far, there are lots of local walks directly from Pomona. Why not explore 1200 acres of Lowick Common (just 100 yards from the door) with its many tarns and abundant wildlife, including deer, badger, heron and buzzard? Enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains from the top of Lowick Beacon.
Grizedale Forrest is just across the valley with the recently opened North Face mountain bike circuit. There are many places to visit around the local area, like Holker Hall with its gardens and motor museum, Haverthwaite Steam Railway, the Aquarium of the lakes at Lakeside and the beautiful Duddon Valley (reported to be William Wordsworth's favourite valley).
Eating out will be a treat as there are many superb pubs and restaurants in the local area, the nearest being just a 5 minute walk away.
